Managing Director of Sorption Technologies GmbH
Walter Mittelbach – founder and managing director of Sorption Technologies GmbH, born in 1965, obtained his Ph.D. in Physics at Free University of Berlin, in 1994. After finishing his studies, he founded a small company performing installation of solar thermal plants in Berlin, but left in 1995 in order to build up a working group on adsorption storage technology for the solar collector producer UFE Solar GmbH in close co-operation with Fraunhofer-Institute for Solar Energy Systems, Freiburg.
In 2002 he founded SorTech AG, manufacturing and sales of an adsorption chiller. Beside the technical development and manufacturing management, his tasks also included acquiring and managing private and public venture capital investors.
After succeeding to establish the company on the market, as CEO and CTO, Mr. Mittelbach founded Sorption Technologies GmbH in June 2018 with the objective to develop, manufacture and sell a next generation low-cost adsorption chiller.
He is the author or co-author of 25 patents or patent applications on adsorption technology, 23 owned by Fahrenheit GmbH (formerly SorTech AG) and two by Sorption Technologies and a number of scientific publications.
